Bringing BiP for general PvE is asking for failure. Honestly, if your monks need that sort of extra energy management because they can't handle it themselves, then they're doing something seriously wrong.

Red-barring sucks to begin with. Saying you need a BiP in order to support the red-barring sucks harder. Most players I've seen use HB specifically to red-bar faster/stronger.

Obvious reasons that HB sucks are obvious.

This. Well, someone's doing it wrong, at least. If someone in the team is being an idiot, you're likely to expend more energy keeping him alive.

But bringing BiP by default is essentially giving monks a crutch they shouldn't have. It's an elite slot (if you really need that energy boost, wouldn't Blood Ritual suffice?), it's a 33% health sacrifice, and it's incredibly easy to get overreliant. It's one thing to know you have the luxury of someone BiPping/BRing you - and there are probably going to be times when you're really, really grateful for it - and another thing to take BiP or BR for a given.

Although, in all fairness, it may very well be the players rather than the bar itself. You can give someone a bar full of 5e spells, but if he doesn't know how to manage his energy, he'll still run out at top speed. BiP doesn't solve that problem, though - it mitigates it at best (since the monk will have the supply of energy he needs), but if the BiP is not in a position to actually supply the monk with that energy pool, the party's screwed over.

Mind, I still think HB/HP is ridiculous as a general bar - I'd take it if I expected to deal with things like major party degen, though - but it isn't exactly the bar's fault if people can't manage their energy.

Just by reading this old post that I made I fully realize why so many are upset. Some of which I will take into consideration some I will not. I just had someone try to force an HB build on me for a PuG in Vizunah Square normal mode. :/
I asked them to bear with me as I was trying to get better at the protection line.
They asked me to ping my build, insulted it, and demanded that I run this instead:
Healer's Boon, Ethereal Light, Heal Party, Healing Ring, Orison of Healing, Healing Whisper, Words of Comfort, and Resurrection Chant.

In my opionion that bar blows.

As far as HB goes, that bar is bad on a level I don't even want to stare into the eyes of.

With HB you're not denied one or two prots, Aegis and/or Prot Spirit. Dwayna's Kiss should be a staple. And you don't need that many prots.

At the end of the day, people are just idiots when it comes to the "my way" mentality.

yes, in the end of the day, its not the perfect build with an unexperienced player playing it that wins....

its usually a more familiar build, maybe not perfect but acceptable being played by some1 who knows how that build works and can do his job that egts the best results... nowadays, no1 will accept this any longer, unfortunately... (just look at SC teams, sheeeeeesh)

Healer's Boon is emgt; the entire point is increasing the efficiency of your heals.

Also, HB + Heal Area is actually pretty funny.

I play a monk most of the time, so I 'kind of' know how to play a monk (ahum). How can someone who does not have a monk as main character know better about playing a monk???

If someone with another profession in a PUG asks me what skills he/she should bring, I always say 'whatever you want'. I don't even want to see their skill bars. Who am I to tell other professions how to run their business?

So - if you are a warrior, ele or whatever - please don't tell me to bring Healer's Boon.... Thank you for listening!

But I could be playing my ele but have a monk as my main. Why not? There's no rule that says that you can only PUG on your main character.

Why are you under the impression that HB = no prots at all? After all, what's stopping you from running 12 healing 10 divine 8 protection prayers + Prot Spirit + Aegis?

I actually find GOLE one of the most overrated skills in the game, it's an okay skill but it uses up a precious skillslot and shoehorns you into going MO/E.

You're using HB, you have superpowered heals - you don't need to heal people at 80% health(which you shouldn't anyway).

Bring a prot or something instead.

because pvx says heals + soa! on the main bar. And the 'classic' Hb bar from the ursan era was all heals + seeds :/

And sadly a lot of the people who use pvx wont change the bar cos its gospel and pvx says that its the best! and those are the people you see in pugs...*rollseyes*

But there is NOTHING but stubburnness and ignorance stopping them from taking PS+Aegis(+SoA) and making the bar 'decent' and only loosing a few hp of heal...that they will likely overheal with anyway :/
